
VACAY - WEST COAST PILSNER

Spring has sprung, the sun is out, and Vacay is exactly where you want to be. Brewed with Voyager Craft Malt and saturated with Nelson Sauvin and Rakau Subzero Hop Kief from Freestyle Hops, then fermented clean with W34/70. (Side note: the can may have “forgotten” a couple of extra hops – we were on vacay when the label went to print. What do you reckon they are?) Vacay is a cracking expression of our favourite NZ hops at the moment. Super Sauvin made its mark in the cold whirlpool, before a few bags of Nelson Sauvin T90 pellets were left to rest in the fermenter for a little holiday of their own - on Vacay, if you will. To close out the trip, Rakau Subzero Hop Kief lit it up for the final dance, bringing a bright burst of fruit to the finish. This crisp, snappy number bursts out of the glass with lychee and gooseberry up front, rolling into layers of peach, kiwi, grapefruit, pomelo, white grape and orange blossom. Sweet flashes of marmalade, sticky pineapple, passionfruit, candied pineapple - even white gummy bear - dance over a clean malt base that lets the delicate hop characters shine. Bright, refreshing and loaded with hop saturation, it’s the perfect beer to welcome spring and soak up in the beer garden. A true warm-weather crusher.
